LIPC PowerUp Discussed At Rotary Meeting
March 12, 2017
Paul Merkelson shared his experience working with the Long Island Progressive Coalition’s (LIPC) PowerUp Communities Project at a recent Rotary Club of Great Neck meeting. The nonprofit green energy program serving Nassau and Suffolk Counties enables homeowners to become energy efficient while protecting the environment and helping sustain jobs on Long Island. Merkelson explained how the PowerUp program connects homeowners with one-on-one support, government funds and certified contractors for energy-saving home improvements. The coalition is an independent contractor to the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA). Rotary Club of Great Neck Gets International Finance Views This past Wednesday, at their regular breakfast meeting, the Rotary Club of Great Neck hosted F. Jacob Cherian. He is an internationally known businessman and entrepreneur whose background spans stints on Wall Street as well as being an adjunct professor at the Fordham University MBA program. In addition to his overseas positions, he is also the CEO of SMC Global USA. Mr. Cherian, a resident of Manhasset Hills, spoke extemporaneously about the global interconnectedness between the US, other developed countries and also emerging market economies. He stressed that it is no longer a situation where ‘when the US sneezes the whole world suffers a cold’ but rather whenever almost any country has an economic problem it effects the US and the rest of the world. The Rotary Club of Great Neck invites town residents and business persons to visit one of their breakfast meetings for business networking and to participate in keeping Great Neck ‘great’ as a wonderful place to live and work. They meet Wednesday mornings at 8 am in the boardroom of TD Bank, 2 Great Neck Road. To arrange for your visit as a guest or if interested in becoming one of their weekly speakers please call (516) 487-9392 or email at rotaryclubofgreatneck@aol.com In alignment with their club motto being, "They Profit Most Who Serves Best", come and discover for yourself how meaningful and satisfying it is to give back to your community while networking through the Rotary Club of Great Neck. |
